The Future of CMMI: Where Do We Go from Here? – While participation in Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) continues to expand and CMS is rolling out the Bundled Payments for Care Improvement (BPCI) Advanced initiative, questions regarding the sustainability and long-term effectiveness of these and other alternative payment models remain. A recent analysis from Avalere highlights the uncertainty regarding the MSSP after finding ACO net savings have fallen short of the initial Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projections by more than $2 billion but also suggests some opportunities for future success.
